Warning - do not use Moneybookers for betting payments. If you have money on account, withdraw. Or safer, send them as payment to Betfair or similar (where you can later withdraw) to not trigger Moneybookers to steal your money to.
This is 100% real, it happened to me, who have recommend Moneybookers as a good payment service.
The Moneybookers fraud and theft rumors - are they true?
I have heard the rumors telling that Moneybookers get accounts, then close them and steal all money inside. Like bad bookmakers they fake a reason that should be that the account owner have violated the terms of use, telling that the fine print tell that account owner have no rights and they can take any sum the want as “compensation” for “violation”. Then close account, take the money. Account owner then have to go to court where a lawyer cost EURO 3000 - 10000 and even more. Account holder may be in another country, which add on hotel, traveling etc. and there fore gives up.
I have never believed those rumors. Until now - exactly this happened to me.
Moneybookers theft of my payments from bookmakers
I got 2 payouts from bookmaker so I ordered a withdraw
| 11 May 09 22:06 |
Withdraw |
Bank transfer |
-7147.75 |
processed |
|
As you can see the withdraw was processed. But no money arrived…
In sted I got a mail:
Please note that further to the high security standards we strictly adhere to and in order to be able to verify and protect your account privacy, its details and the funds on it, we hereby kindly ask you to send us a copy of:
- Your valid official identification document in colour, such as your international passport, national identity card or drivers licence. Please provide back and front.
- A recent utility bill (gas bill, electricity bill, est.), or bank statement, received by post, and issued within last three months.
It was a bit strange as I have had several withdraws lately to my bank account but I sent them the info. Then a new mail arrived, containing:
We thank you for your response. Please be kindly informed that we have received your documents. We have noticed a discrepancy in the registered personal data. We kindly ask you to provide explanation.
There was nothing wrong with my papers, I asked for an explanation and to get my money. What I got back was:

12.1…………………Moneybookers may at its sole discretion assert reasonable handling expenses the Company incurs by a Customers misuse of the Service and/or breach of these Terms of Use.
I very well recognize this behavior from bad bookmakers that steal winnings by fake a reason and refer to the fine prints. Of course I have not violated any of the regulations above.
I have only get payment from bookmakers that are Moneybookers customers. I have only withdraw to my bank, not paid anything else.
Maybe they have waited until I had nearly 8000 on my account. I have not got my withdrawal, that is 7147.
But I got one more payment of 884 from a bookmaker, this was also completely stolen, labeled as “Repair Fee”:
| 21 May 09 09:15 |
Withdraw |
Repair Fee |
-884.60 |
processed |
0.00 |
|
This way Moneybookers have completely emptied my account, they have taken it all, 8032.
I sent a last mail asking for my money and got a final mail back from “security department”:
We are writing to confirm that your account at Moneybookers is now closed. Upon registration of your account with Moneybookers you agreed to our Terms and Conditions. Please visit section 7.5 and 11 of our Terms and Conditions for more information:

12.1…………………Moneybookers may at its sole discretion assert reasonable handling expenses the Company incurs by a Customers’ misuse of the Service and/or breach of these Terms of Use.
The first sebtnece is used to steal EURO 150. The 12.1 seems to be used to take the rest there is on a account - at its sole discretion assert reasonable handling expense. I had over 8000 on my account
Moneybookers is not a bank. Regarding to the agreement you have to accept they can do what ever they want. Like if you get 8000 in pay outs from bookmakers like I did, just steal them.
My advice: Leave Moneybookers before it is to late. My withdrawal triggered the action, my advice is to pay to Betfair or similar so they not understand that you have been warned and are leaving.
Moneybookers fraud warning
There is one safe way to never get your money stolen by Moneybookers - never use them, they can only take your money if you have an account with them.
This is fraud and theft and I will file a claim to the police.
I can no longer in any way recommend Moneybookers. My advice as a part time betting pro is to leave Moneybookers ASAP before this happen to you, there are competing companies and credit cards are also an option, Visa and Mastercard.
